Across Patliputra Colony, Boring Road, Sri Krishna Puri, Atal Path, Kankarbagh and other parts of Patna, a more diverse café culture is beginning to develop. There are dedicated coffee shops, aesthetic cafés, late-night places, work-friendly spaces, neighbourhood coffee counters and restaurants increasingly positioning themselves around the café experience.
And because a shiny interior, neon sign and cappuccino photograph do not automatically make somewhere one of the “best cafés in Patna”, Patna Diaries is approaching this differently.

This is not a paid ranking. It is not a list arranged from No. 1 to No. 10. And inclusion does not automatically mean a Patna Diaries recommendation.
Instead, this is a regularly updated list of cafés that currently look interesting enough to visit, experience, review or simply keep an eye on.

Why it is on our radar: Coffee-focused positioning, contemporary ambience and a relatively new presence in Patna.
TAN COFFEE is one of the more noticeable additions to Patliputra Colony’s growing café cluster.
Its current listing places it at House No. 169, New Patliputra Colony, and categorises it specifically as a coffee shop rather than merely a multicuisine restaurant carrying coffee on the side. The listing also identifies features such as outdoor seating, dine-in, takeaway, brunch, desserts and suitability for working on a laptop.
The café’s own social launch material positioned the Patna outlet around coffee and contemporary café culture in New Patliputra Colony.

2. Alba Beans & Coffee, Boring Road
Area: North Sri Krishna Puri, opposite A.N. College
Category: Coffee shop
Why it is on our radar: One of Patna’s newest café openings.
Alba Beans & Coffee deserves particular attention simply because it is genuinely new.
The brand announced that it would begin brewing in Patna from 8 August 2026, making it one of the newest additions to the city at the time this watch list was prepared. Its location is listed at Road No. 5D, opposite A.N. College, North Sri Krishna Puri, Boring Road.
The current business listing classifies Alba as a coffee shop and indicates evening-friendly operating hours extending beyond midnight.
That immediately makes it interesting.
New cafés usually arrive with perfectly arranged interiors, enthusiastic launch reels and enough artificial foliage to reforest a small hill. What matters is what happens once the opening-week excitement disappears.

Its Sri Krishna Puri location is currently listed as a café, while the brand has also established another Patna presence at City Centre.
The brand has previously promoted coffee beans sourced from Chikmagalur for its Patna presence, which makes it worth evaluating from a coffee-first perspective.
Why it matters
If Patna’s café culture is going to mature, the city needs more places where customers gradually learn the difference between simply drinking a flavoured cold coffee and actually appreciating beans, roast, extraction and brewing.
That does not mean everyone needs to discuss coffee acidity like they are defending a PhD thesis.

The interesting part
Kosmicko represents another side of Patna café culture.

What Is Changing About Café Culture in Patna?
The most interesting development is not the arrival of one particular café.

Patliputra Colony

Boring Road and Sri Krishna Puri
